CASS LAKE- The Leech Lake Election Board has certified the results of the 2024 Primary Election held April 2, 2024 on the Leech Lake Reservation.
Elections were held for the positions of Chairperson and District III Representative. None of the candidates received more than one-half (50%) of the total vote in their races, in accordance with the MN Chippewa Tribe Election Ordinance, the two candidates with the most votes in each race will now advance to and appear on the ballot for the June 11, 2024 General Election.
For Chairperson, the top two candidates are Faron Jackson Sr. (Incumbent) with 580 votes (36.87%) and Gerald White with 297 votes (18.88%).
In the race for District III Representative, the top two candidates advancing to the General Election are Leon Staples Jr. with 270 votes (25.00%) and Glen “Tuffy” Fisher with 203 votes (18.80%).
