Good Morning,

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe COVID-19 Incident Management Team (IMT) will be providing periodic updates throughout the duration of our emergency response. Meetings will be held daily throughout the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis.

03.21.2020 11:00AM Daily Update

LLBO is currently under “Tier Two” Emergency Actions as defined in the COVID-19 Emergency Response Strategy.

The most current data from MN Dept of Health indicates there are 138 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota. There are no confirmed cases on the Leech Lake Reservation or within the four-county area which Leech Lake Reservation overlaps.

Major tasks we are working on today include:

  • Continue working with State of MN for clarity on unemployment benefits that will be available to Gaming and Gov’t Employees if there is a need to move from admin leave to layoffs. Work continues on planning for keeping all employees on administrative leave for the duration of the pandemic shutdown.
  • Identifying drop points and logistics for distribution of food and critical supplies to community members.
  • Finalization of plan for maintaining essential services during Tier 3 Emergency actions and the communication of that plan to the community.
  • Coordination of community-driven volunteer efforts to work along side efforts of the IMT.

Remember, the best way to prevent illness is follow CDC recommendations to avoid being exposed to this virus.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Avoid close contact with others as much as possible. Put distance between yourself, recommended social distancing is at least six feet. Do not gather in groups larger than 10 people. Stay home if you are sick, contact your healthcare provider via phone. Also, contact your hospital or clinic via phone prior to going in.
