Job Fair to be held March 19-20 for Palace Casino Construction

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Leech Lake Gaming and the TERO office will be holding a job fair at multiple sites around the reservation on March 19 & 20. Applicants are needed to fill a variety of construction positions for the Palace Casino Replacement project.

Construction on the new Palace Casino in Cass Lake is expected to begin by the end of this month or early April depending on weather. According to Education Director Laurie Harper, they are hoping to fill a “minimum of 80% of the available non- core construction positions through TERO.” The Education Division oversees the TERO program.

Open positions for the project include laborers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, operators and more. Gaming HR Staff will also be on hand to discuss current and future positions at Leech Lake Gaming, including the new Casino. They will also be conducting application intake for Gaming jobs.

The Leech Lake Education Division staff will also be in attendance at the event to assist with resume preparation.

The Job Fair will be held in the following locations:

  • Northern Lights Casino, Monday March 19- 9:30AM – 11:00AM
  • Palace Casino, Monday March 19- 2:30PM – 4:30PM
  • Palace Casino, Monday March 19- 5:30PM – 8:00PM
  • Ball Club Community Center, Tuesday, March 20- 9:30AM – 11:30AM
  • Bena Community Center, Tuesday March 20- 5:30PM – 7:30PM

The project was approved by Band members in a referendum vote conducted last Spring. The referendum question overwhelmingly passed with a vote of 1244 yes to 341 no on May 16, 2017. The new casino is scheduled to open in the summer of 2019 and will feature slots, blackjack, a 100-room hotel, food court, brew pub, restaurant, event center, gift shop and arcade. It will be located along the Highway 2 Frontage Road in Cass Lake, MN.
